	About the Company
	Srishti Dances of India is a Pittsburgh based performing arts company that specializes in Indian classical dances. Srishti's endeavors are marked by artistic excellence and innovative choreography.  The company continues to adhere to the traditional classical styles, while also developing a contemporary approach to presenting classical dance and music to audiences. Srishti has developed a substantial, diverse and loyal audience base in the three years of its existence as a company. Srishti's performances have been critically acclaimed, having received excellent reviews, in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, the Dance Magazine etc., apart from media in other cities. Srishti's recent collaborative (with Indinesian Gamelan orchestra) dance-drama production (23 dancers and 20 musicians) of Ramayana attracted an audience size over 1,300 in its two shows. The company is led by Artistic Director Sreyashi Dey, an exponent of Odissi and Bharat Natyam with a long and distinguished classical dance career. Sreyashi has performed in the traditional solo classical dance format allover India, and in several cities in the U.S. such as New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Boston, Washington DC, in addition to Pittsburgh. She continues to be an active performer, touring regularly. As a company, Srishti has been performing for the last three years, presenting a wide range of programming, both solo and ensemble, and focusing on a variety of themes and working with artists across artistic genres.
