Artistic Director :
Mark Taylor
About the Company
Dance Alloy, celebrating 25 years in Pittsburgh, is dedicated to exploring dance as both an artistic and educational activity. Under Artistic Director Mark Taylor, the Alloy develops projects that embody our dynamic and changing world.

Dance Alloy is neither a single-choreographer company nor a traditional repertory company. Mark Taylor's dances are complemented by the development of original works and projects that serve to extend the range of esthetic experiences for company dancers, collaborating artists, and audiences.

The School of the Dance Alloy offers instruction in a diverse range of movement classes throughout the year and is "home base" for the Alloy's educational initiatives. The performing company is noted for its teaching skills, and for the effective educational services they provide as part of the Alloy's touring and residency programs.

There are three areas of repertory activity for the Alloy: the ongoing choreographic work of Mark Taylor, the commissioning of original dances from leading contemporary choreographers (Ann Carlson, Sean Curran, David Dorfman, Doug Elkins, David Roussève,Elizabeth Streb) and the development of new performance material through community residencies that focus on the creation of special dance projects.
